Took this puppy out shooting today, It started life out as a $400 stainless springfield mil spec I bought a 6 months ago, someone's "gunsmith" friend dropped in a wilson combat trigger and lost springs and pins (even though it still functioned). So I took the liberty of finding replacement springs, pins, widened the rear sight, put the original trigger back in, installed a larger thumb safety, installed a beavertail grip safety and bobbed the hammer, I also smoothed and polished the rails and feed ramp a little. Then I had Black Ice Coatings coat the gun (oh yeah I rounded the edges off and cut up a little underneath the trigger guard). Grip is vz grips something of the other with Chi Rho cut into it.
I dropped it in a sandy desert mud puddle then I decided it wasn't dirty enough so I scooped mud and layered it on the gun. After flicking mud out between the hammer and firing pin I fired 100 rounds, it had about 3 failure to feeds with my kimber magazine, which the gun doesn't like. I'm 19 and this was my first real gun project, I wanted to have something with American heritage and it's the state gun to boot! Hope you enjoy!
Sorry I don't know how to get the pictures bigger and easier to view. I searched and looked around, but I couldn't find any info. Also, this was taken after I got home. Most the mud was shot off and then wiped off; and this was hours after, when the residue had dried.
Another member brought up the concern about my third picture, and for that I would like to thank him, but the barrel wasn't pointed at me, I'm off to the side, no safety rules are being broken here, loaded or unloaded.
