Hey Guys,

New to the Long Gun World and I have a M700 5R. I'm wondering if it is possible to "breakdown" the rifle and have it fitted to some sort of Pelican case or something. Just a way to not tell everyone what you are carying to/from shooting etc.

Does anyone know of any way to do this? How about just telling how you transport your rifles... Looking for good high quality products.

Thanks!

Mike

In what kinds of environments/settings/crowds do you need to have more discreet carrying ability? I ask because no matter what size the rifle breaks down into, you are looking at the M4 carbine sized Pelican/Storm case which is anything but discreet! It is more compact than a 52" case, but discreet it is NOT. i.e. - taking smaller Pelican/Storm case on the bus, train or trolley in Philly isn't going to be so discreet!

Maybe a soft electric guitar case or similar instrument case.

Just living in an apartment complex will give you enough reason to want a low profile carry case.

I live with noisy neighbors all around and will back my car into the garage, shut the door, load up, and then leave. I'd rather nobody know that I have firearms.

For long guns, a travel electric guitar case is really good. The more beaten and used, the better. Slap some music store stickers all over it and some duct tape and it will look like you're a musician. I use an old sax case for my AR. The lower is strapped to the lid, the upper, magazines, ear protection, eye protection and optics are in foam in the case.

There aren't a lot of options for long guns. If you're not into working with closed or open cell foam, you can check how a softbag will fit inside the guitar case. Then just use the soft bag from your vehicle to the range and the hard case + soft case from your house to vehicle.

Do a search though and you'll find a lot of info.
