edit: i dont know how or if any one pays any attention to their trigger groups i just wanted to do a write up on this and talk about kg trigger oil, the oil is a nice oil thin like rem oil but an all and all nice product, and this trigger unit seemed better to used then my usc/ump trigger unit
I ordered paint a week ago from KG and they sent me a tone of various sample bottles of things like trigger oil, gun oil, copper solvent, bore polish and carbon solvent.
Well today i though after 800 rounds i would clean and oil my psg-1 trigger unit, now i know right from the get go this oil is a waste of time and so is cleaning this trigger unit, but with no write ups on the psg1 trigger unit or pictures of the unit taken apart i figured i would be the first.
Taking the unit apart is easy, just push all the pins out, start from the top with the hammer pin and work your way down and you should have a pile of parts like this, dont forget to get some q tips to apply the trigger oil with, and I also want to note that i let all the trigger parts soak in slip2k carbon killer previous to doing this and then it was rinsed off and every thing was dried with compressed air.
i was really impressed with the pins that hold every thing in place, they where highly polished and smooth, g3 trigger pins are not near the quality of these in terms of finish
next is to put the sear inside the trigger and the trigger return spring inside the trigger housing and the... well the part behind the trigger that looks like a barrel i call that the trigger stop, after the trigger pin is in then pull and hold the trigger back and put the trigger stop and pin in, not the sear and how it is installed, if you install it wrong you wont know until you install the last part ( the hammer ) and then you will have to take every single thing out and start again
after you have these 3 parts and the spring in next comes the confusing part, like a g3 trigger pack their is a sear spring, how ever this sear spring has an extra part, I honestly have no idea what it does, but i belive it helps lock the hammer back but i could be wrong, any way like a g3 the closed end goes under the sear as shown
and the ends go on the "muzzle end" of the hammer pin holes like shown, this can be a bitch, the best way to do this is to install the closed end under the sear and then using needle nose pliers to pull the ends around to the other sides of the pin holes as shown
the little extra piece on this sear return spring is shown in this pic, sear return spring is above the hammer and the extra part is in the dead center of the spring it sticks up word and you can see it sticking up in the almost center of the closed end of the spring
after you install this your going to get the hammer and hammer strut and spring, the best way i have found to install these last three parts is to put the strut in the spring then install it threw the holes in the trigger pack frame once they ( the strut and spring ) are threw the holes bend them up and put the hammer strut in the groves in the hammer then let the hammer go forward as if it wasn't cocked back and push the bottem of the hammer down aginst the sear pushing the sear down and line up the pin holes and shove the pin threw, when you grab the psg1 hammer you will notice their is a small slight grove on the right hand side ( if the hammer was facing you ) this grove is where that extra piece rides between the hammer and sear, if you do not put this piece where it belongs the hammer will not lock back properly every time, you could have an adc if you dont put it in where it belongs
my trigger pack wasnt really that dirty, the extractor was but i took a q tip and went over every single part with the trigger oil even the trigger housing inside and out and on all the springs, after it was installed back in the grip frame i pulled the trigger a few times and didnt notice any thing better with the oil, not saying it isnt doing its job but the trigger pull is 2-2.5 pounds so its pretty light.
any way i hope you enjoyed this, it does almost set up like a g3 trigger pack with some small changes so if you can do a g3 trigger pack you can do a psg-1 pack
its also a good idea to take one of your q tips and fray the cotton a little when your doing a lot of oiling that way it covers a bigger area, just a little tip
