I am looking for some really solid 1" rings without spending $120 on rings + $120 on a base. These are for a hunting rifle (Remington 700 LA 30-06). Anyone use the DNZ rings? Are they sturdy? Are the screws Torx?
I've used them on a couple of hunting rifles. Never have had a problem with them. I'm pretty sure they don't use torx, I keep a leupold torx screw kit on my bench so I don't really pay attention to what screws bases come with.
Currently have a 1" set of them on my 700 (Short Action)- when my new glass comes today (SWFA SS 20x42) its coming with another set in 30mm. Never had an issue with them- rock solid (on a .308 platform at least- Magnum calibers I can't testify for.) Not Torx. If interested in a used set- pm me. (mine are medium height.)
Myself and most of my friends who hunt use them exclusively on hunting rigs. If I built another long range tactical stick I'd definitely use the DNZs for it. No one I know has ever had any issues at all with them. Very solid. Very nice local guys too. I like supporting small, local businesses.
I've got a set of DNZ one piece on my Browning A-Bolt hunting ring. They're sturdy and fitment is nice. No problems so far, I've had them on there for 2 years?. They are not torx screws, they're allen screws.
I have the DNZ mount on a 700 LA and it is a well built, lightweight, and so far, durable mount. For a hunting rifle it is good option. As others have stated, it has allen head screws.
i have never used the dnz but when i was looking i did look at them but it had only 2 screws pur ring and it kinda turned me away but i have heard only good things about them.
