The MP44's that I have shot (3) even with hand loads an all had excellent bores were no better than 3" @ 100 yards. Good assult rifle but not in sniper class. All though only 1 had a scope.

Bought it from PTR, Inc. late 2009. They brought in 200 of them from Germany but are sold out now. Picked up the ZF4 from Numrich. Where are you at in Alaska? I'm in Anchorage.

actually, they used 2 dfferent scopes in trials, but the ZF4 shown in my pic was the most practical.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

With that cartridge no, but take an Hk91 which is that gun in a full sized rifle caliber it would do ok. Awesome rifle though, pretty cool to own the original assualt rifle.

Even though it's a brand new reproduction, it has every feature but FA. The appeal was that it was the first...

Re: Do you think an MP44 wouldve made a decent sniper?

PTR, Inc. had brought 200 of these rifles in from a German Manufacturer Sport System Dittrich (SSD) who has been making them and other WW2 german rifles for around 4-5 yrs. now -- HZA Kulmbach ditributes them now around the world. PTR, Inc. and Recon Ordnance had them refitted with the correct amount of USA made parts to meet .922r. They became available 11/2009 and they sold out 9/2010. They initially sold for $4300. The last one from R.O. sold for $6000. One on GB sold for over $5400 not too long ago. PTR, Inc. and Recon will not be bringing any more into the country as there were problems getting several of the rifles to run properly -- long boring story. Bottom line is the 200 that got here are it and very few have come up for resale in the last yr. Unlikely thst HZA/SSD will find anyone else to bring in more rifles. They are very nice reproductions and I enjoy mine quite a bit.
