Rifle Scopes Do you use Mil-Dots for range finding?

Re: Do you use Mil-Dots for range finding?

Oh and if this has been discussed 200,000 times I apologize in advance! Point me in the right direction...search doesn't ever work for me...

Re: Do you use Mil-Dots for range finding?

So if you were buying a "tacital" long range hunting scope you just do a duplex? How do you use it for ranging other than practice?

Seriously?

I am all about helping new people. However your post has so many problems, I wouldn't even know where to begin to un-f*k it.

First, try this search

http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=010955838166721108978:qcbx5qqy10o&hl=en

Second, scour the Optics section.

Third do more research before you ask a question like "do you use Mil-Dots for range finding". That is exactly why Mil-Dots were invented.

Dots or Hashes, Mil or MOA, Do the research, look through some, decide for yourself, you will get as many dif answers as you want. I like Lines and MOA....

FWIW... this was full of sarcasm, apparently not enough.

Re: Do you use Mil-Dots for range finding?

mount your duplex scope in one of the aimpoint/eotech 3x magnifier flip mounts. flip it back and forth between your left and right eye. if you do it fast enough, it will give you stereoscopic vision, which will let your brain naturally see the range to the target. this is like bindon aiming concept, only better for snipers. mil dots are a waste of money. hope this isn't violating any opsec rules

Re: Do you use Mil-Dots for range finding?

Knight, LOL I was sitting here like what the hell, but thought I may have missed something?

Mike simmer down brother I know they were invented for range finding just wondering if most people used them or just laser range finders, etc. I guess a lot of people shoot at known distances/targets so it wouldn't even matter...should have re-phrased my question. Just wondering what most people used and like the best...

Seems like everytime I ask something in the optics section I get flamed! Either you guys are hardcore...or I'm just that damn stupid...here's your sign! (to myself of course, lol). I really am a newb with optics. I've always just hunted with a Leupold duplex and haven't shot over 250 yards. We got a new place and if I got good enough in the next year I'd like to try a doe at 750 or so...

HAHA...I went back and read my post, and I gotta say I did sound like a total dipshit. Just wondering if they were teh most popular reticle.

We're not sitting around waiting to flame you, we're asking that please think through your question well, and do your research prior to asking the question that, in your own words, "has been discussed 200,000 times"
