DOC Officers Discount *VENDORS OPINIONS WANTED*

I have a question that I believe could get answered here, and I'd like to hear more from the site vendors on this issue instead of the general public, but feel free to chime in as well VJJ

I've been looking online and have found a few gear shops and firearm websites that take all Military/LEO/Fire/DOC as part of their heros discount programs. One example would be Budspolicesupply.com (budgunshop). I have only found a few like this, as most businesses lean towards an only Military or LEO discount.

Now heres my question, do most businesses not see these other fields such as Fire or a DOC Correctional Officer as a candidate for these discounts? And if so why not. I know thise discount is mainly reserved for those who serve the community, but do these other fields not do the same, but maybe not on the same level as military or LEO?

I don't want this to turn into a bitching thred about I want what he has, I would just like vendor opinions on this. Much appreciated,

I have no problem telling a vendor, "I see you offer a LEO discount, are you willing to offer that discount for Fire?". I have found many vendors that have and will give Fire/EMS the LEO/Mil discount if you ask.

NRA has that Life of Duty program that is free to sign up for. You get emails that list a shitload of companies that offer all kinds of discounts.

For Firemen, a lot of the same places lump them in as well as EMTs. Maybe not so much with the gun companies, but places that sell stuff for emergency responders will sometimes expand beyond just military and LE.

As for correctional officers, most are considered LE, the same as regular cops, with the exception of places like the CCA which are private contrators, essentially rent-a-cops, that are not recognized by any level of government as a peace officer. Whether its federal, state, or local, most have to attain a certification where they are recognized as a peace officer.

Check out that NRA thing. I havent used it yet, but I see some really cool deals on a lot of stuff.
