I am into the market for a red dot for my Buckmark. I bought a Silencerco Sparrow for it, and will be converting the barrel to a 4" Trail Lite, adding the Tac Sol pic rail at the same time. I am going to be running a red dot on it, and am looking a either an Aimpoint T1 Micro or a Docter.

I am a big fan of the two T1's I have. The brightness has a manual adjustment which I like. I actually shoot this pistol at night a lot, and I hear the auto brightness adjustment on the Doc can dim the sight too much. On the other hand, the Doc is smaller, lighter, and cheaper.

Any input?

Not sure what is going on at Docter Optics. No one here in the US carries the Docter III models and other vendors have seem to stop selling them all together.

I have one that I bought from swfa and it is a really nice red dot very precise dot, with no star bursting like other red dots. It is way smaller than the T1 in both weight and size.

Another Option would be the Burris Fastfire III when it comes out late march early April.

Re: Docter vs T1 on a handgun?

I tend to agree the Trijicon RMR is a much more robust design than the Doctors that I have run across. It is about twice the price of the Doctors that are being blown out for around $250 at various vendors.

I have been looking at the dual illuminated RMR for one of my pistols too...

Re: Docter vs T1 on a handgun?

Trijicon RMR is the way to go. I own 2 now, one on a FNH 45 Tactical and one on my GSG SBR. They are overbuilt if anything and their fiber optic filter that never needs batteries is a huge bonus for my uses.

Id say look into them, they will last a lifetime!

Re: Docter vs T1 on a handgun?

Thanks for the advice guys. This is going on a .22, which is on a fixed sight mount, not reciprocating on the slide like on a FNP 45. Still worth double for the RMR over a Doc? The Doc's are on sale for $250 right now. My main concern was the auto brightness, not the ruggedness.

Re: Docter vs T1 on a handgun?

The Docter is Fine for your use and I would take it over a RMR for a .22
I run a Docter on a FNP .45 and my friend likes the clarity of it better than his RMR. I however would rather give up the clarity for the easier to adjust and more rubust RMR for my .45 FNP.

But for a .22 the Docter will be all you will ever need.

If you can wait for the Burris fastfire III that would be the best.

Re: Docter vs T1 on a handgun?

If it's for plinking, $250 is worthwhile. Docters have been around long enough that Googling around should give you any potential concerns about the unit. They were the cat's ass for piggybacking on ACOGs for a good long while before the RMR came out.

Personally I have two Trijicon RMRs on two Glocks. They are about the most robust "micro RDS" you'll find out of the bunch but if you don't need that ruggedness, there is no point in tossing down the extra cash. I haven't succeeded in getting the RM02 auto-brightness to wash out on me yet.
