I have a brand new 700 long action with the magnum boltface, can I use this for a 300 RUM build? Somebody told me the Rem ultra mags used a different action?? will all the regulare long action parts like the magazine and follower, etc work too?

Re: Does 300 RUM use a different action?

I think it uses the same case head as the standard belted mag (.532) in a non belted format.

The Mag length action should be fine for you. Case dimensions aren't any longer than a 378 Wby case and that uses a regular Mag length action with a bigger bolt face.

You're good to go with the action you have.

Only issue might be in feeding from the magazine depending on what the action was originally chambered in. The width of the rails might be too narrow to feed smoothly. Some open the rails, others reduce the angle slightly on the feed ramp to fix the issue.

If it was for a standard magnum you'll have to open up the feed rails a bit, widen and polish the feed ramp, and get a window magazine box. I think they list a separate follower for a UM too.
