Sidearms & Scatterguns Does anyone shoot an airgun?

I got an Anschutz field target setup last year and it is a riot. It’s underpowered compared to the 50’s, but it’s unbelievably accurate. You just need to have good dope and be spot-on with your wind calls.

I nailed an English sparrow at 53 yards last week when it was trying to take over my bluebird boxes.

Aha, busted, now we know why you are such a good shot!

Just some old guy airgun musings....

It's old news, and I'm kinda a has been, but after winning my 2nd season in 2011 and 2012 of a long range steel championship with my 6x47L MAK tube rifle, I was approached with this question. Steve, what's your secret for the success you've had in this series? I was honest and told the guy that I practice with air rifles and had been doing so for many years. In those years I had learned good shooting fundamentals, and also learned about how to judge wind well. Also up to that point I had won our state Field Target air rifle match 7 times.

I was raised with nice airguns as a boy. I had a Daisy Fieldmaster BB gun as my first gun at age 8 and at age 10 got a Diana M27 which was a higher quality springer at the time. That was almost 50 years ago. I wore those two totally out, and two other air rifles/AG's out by the time I was 14, lol.

I grew up, got into girls, firearms, etc, and didn't own a AG again till I was in my late 20's and bought a few cheap rifles, a Sheridan 20 cal pump, and a Gamo CFX springer. They were okay and I killed some stuff with them but I sold them because they didn't hold my interest.

One time in my early 30's I was killing some time down in Phoenix AZ and saw a add in the Yellow Pages for a store called Airguns of Arizona, so I stopped by since I wanted to see if he had anything interesting. I about freaked out! They had what is called a Pre Charged Pneumatic/ PCP which I had never heard of before. Not having the money or a way to fill a PCP, but having $500 in my wallet, I walked out with a 22 cal Daystate Sportsman which is a multi pump that produced 20 fpe! It had a nice walnut stock, high polished blueing, and brass trigger, cocker, etc! Look that rifle up on google.
4 months later I traded it in at AOA for my first PCP! A 17 cal Daystate Harrier, fill yoke and bottle!!

Anyway, here's some pics of some nice AG's I have that you guys might enjoy looking at
