Well I had to sell of some stuff recently and made the money I needed, was able to put aside $500 for a bolt action and my local shop ordered me a Remington 700 SPS Tac. ($535+tax). I was not too impressed with the Hogue Stock because it seems kind of flimsy but it does feel great in hand. The rifle is well put together and tolerances seem very tight. I have a feeling this bad boy has a tight chamber because it would not chamber brass shot in my old rifle, even after FL sizing.
Well to the range. I had some old ammo laying around (Remington Corelokt 180grn Super Speed). I decided to take it to the range zero out the scope and see how it groups being completely stock with factory old crap ammo.
Here's the results, all shot at 100yards. It shoots amazing. Adjustable trigger is nice and crisp, stock handles recoil well. I was hitting low, below target for 2 shots, adjusted and got the first shot on low right. 2nd shot was upper right, ajusted for windage to left and over shot the mark with 3rd shot which was upper left. Decided to adjust windage back to right and elevation down a tad, which gives the shot to right blue center. Did my final adjustment and decided to shoot a 5 shot group and just see how it groups. I am pleased that it grouped at around .6" at 100yards with factory ammo. I am thinking with some reloading I really got a great rifle that I can make some awesome shots with.
