I just got in the chassis but had to get a mag seperate. Do I need a regular AI magazine or an AX specific magazine?

Runs on normal AICS mags to my knowledge.

It will take both AX specific mags and the AICS mags. The AX mag has a lip on the front that makes you have to kind of rock the mag in like a M1A style but a lot smother. The AICS mags go straight in and IMO are a lot let cumbersome. The AICS mags are also a little cheaper and a lot easier to come by.

the only reason I ask is because without the BA in it the mag just seems pretty loose

ok I see the barrel puts pressure on the spring locking the magazine in. I'm still trying to figure this thing out.lol
