This rifle has been seeing use for just over 5 years now. Its one of the Rem 700 clone "Custom" actions, of which I would think would have more even bolt wear.

Anyhoo, picture:

Re: Does this bolt wear look normal?

when lapping the lugs, most are going to have rearward pressure on the bolt face. if there is any play between the bolt body and receiver, like there probably is in that action, depending on how the bolt handle is manipulated, one lug could show more signs of wear than the other. without the bolt being pushed to one side or the other by the operator, the right side/bottom lug would be the one i'd expect to show the most signs of wear due to the trigger sear pushing upward at the rear of the bolt. that doesn't mean that there isn't near 100% contact when there is pressure against the bolt face.

If you're worried about it, have a competent smith clean it up properly. Simply putting polishing compound there and pulling the bolt isn't the way to do it...you'll never pull it inline with the bore.

If you've had a bunch of rounds through it, say easily over a grand, have the barrel set back a turn and have the lugs done then.
