Hey guys I got a question.

I used eskimo to make up a dope card for me. This weekend Ive got a match to shoot and will be shooting to 350, nothing too over the top long range. But there is a little side bet between me and another guy, hes got a MUCH better spotter than I but I figure it comes down to the monkey pulling the trigger as well.

But here is my question, eskimo says that a 155smk moving at 2700fps is going to be 4 inches low at 200 with a 100 yard zero. And at 350 ists going to be 22.5 inches low, now that just seems like an awfull lot of drop between those distances. I checked my card from 100 to 250, and it seems fine but Call we an idiot because I really am. Does it seem right to have that much drop from 200 to 350? 4.3 MOA from 200 to 350.

I got a lot riding on this match, well more or less just some pride actually. Loser wears a dress at our home range for the next match.

Re: Does this seem right

Here's the dope I come up with in standard conditions with the scope 1.5" above bore. Wind is 10 mph 90 degrees cross.

Range Elev Wind
(yards) (moa) (moa)
0 --- ---
25 -2.49 0.18
50 -0.21 0.36
75 0.14 0.54
100 0 0.73
125 -0.35 0.92
150 -0.81 1.11
175 -1.34 1.31
200 -1.93 1.51
225 -2.55 1.71
250 -3.21 1.92
275 -3.91 2.13
300 -4.63 2.34
325 -5.38 2.56
350 -6.16 2.79
375 -6.96 3.01
400 -7.79 3.25

Range Elev Wind
(yards) (inches) (inches)
0 --- ---
25 -0.65 0.05
50 -0.11 0.19
75 0.11 0.43
100 0 0.76
125 -0.46 1.2
150 -1.27 1.75
175 -2.46 2.4
200 -4.03 3.16
225 -6.01 4.03
250 -8.41 5.02
275 -11.25 6.13
300 -14.54 7.36
325 -18.3 8.72
350 -22.56 10.21
375 -27.34 11.84
400 -32.65 13.61

Note to add- you will need to check this in the field to verify it is accurate. Often I find the drop chart gets you very close, but not precise. If you're hitting steel man size targets, you should be good. But clay pidgeons or small targets, you may need to make a minor adjustment.

Re: Does this seem right

Chad I appreciate it. That is roughly what I came up with as well. Like I said I checked out to 250 today which was as far as I could get where I was, but its in a valley with no wind at all so its good for getting windage set.

Nut I know it seems slow but that's what the chrony told me they were running. Keep in mind at the current time its a factory spsT that all I've done was adjust the trigger lighter and throw it in an older has stock that I haven't even bedded yet, which I REALLY need to do as well as open the barrel channel right at the last inch or so its rubbing the barrel. I've only got 20 inches to play with so that's why I went with 155's and not something heavier. And that's 46.1 grains of varget and a 210M coal at 2.825 I haven't measured the chamber to see how far off the lands I am but I know they aren't getting crammed into them.

I've got some 155 sj scenars coming that I plan to try with some VV540 and load their "accuracy" load and see what they do in my rifle.

Re: Does this seem right

I'm running the same 155smk and 46.5gr varget. SPS-T with a velocity of 2720. The eskimo card is very close. I only tested it out to 300yds, but it works. Less than 1/2 MOA difference.

Re: Does this seem right

Well guys I did something right. I am not going to have to wear a dress for the July match.

And Marcus cant say that it was his rifle since a 14 yr old girl used the SAME rifle, and beat him with it as well. She beat me too but that doesnt matter. Marcus didnt beat me.
