So I am new to longer range shooting and need a little help. I am trying to use the phone apps Shooter/iSnipe to help me get on target. I have entered all the data that I believe to be accurate and both put me about 1 MOA lower than actual at 500 yards. How can I take the actual working numbers and extend that out to longer ranges for more accurate dope. I have a 1000 yard target, but it's fairly grassy and misses are hard to see. Maybe I should put a 4X8 sheet of plywood up to help get me zeroed in.

Re: Dope Help

try the JBM calculator, it's a really good program, IMO it's the closest to actually shooting the distances.

if you can shoot from 100 - 500 and can calculate the drop you are experiencing in reality from your zero, you can bump it up against the results you are getting from the program after a few trial and errors using slightly different input (optic height, temp, fps, etc.)

it may not be the actual data that you have in reality, but if you are getting close results, who cares? (example using 1" rather than 1.5" optic height or 2650 fps rather than the actual 2725 fps).

once you get one that matches up the best through out those distances, run with it out to 1000.

Re: Dope Help

First. What data did you put in? Actual chrono data? Did you get your weather data air temp/baro from a local device or just let the app grab that info for you? The app could be grabbing weather data from an airport on the other side of the county.

That said. You can tweak the fps setting in shooter to get it to line up with the results you are seeing down range. Lowlight has mentioned how to do this. I'll see if I can find it.
