Where can I buy double claw scope mounts for my mauser? I have the scope (removed from k98 sniper) but the mounts were lost years ago. Please guide me to a source thanks.....

Re: Double claw scope mounts

Do you have the rings only and no bases? Or you need everything?

Either way the rings and bases are not interchangeable. They where made as a matching set. I went thru this with my German 98 sporter. I had the bases and no rings.

Mark Cromwell at New England Custom Firearms made me new ones. Thats where I would go. D. Appel is an old German custom gunsmith that came to the U.S. years ago and started NECG.

The base's are attached to the rifle. I was not aware that they were a matched set, good ole German precision. I will contact your suggested sites Thanks Manny

Re: Double claw scope mounts

Col - thanks for the link, I did not see anything that would fill my need. I will probably have to have something custom made. I would love to put the rifle back to it's original configuration with the scope/claw mounted....thanks again....Manny

Re: Double claw scope mounts

The SARCO site is difficult to navigate and not always current. However, for current info, go to the links to the Shotgun News ads. On the Sep 10th ad at page 4, on the top left, you will find Mauser claw mounts and a repro scope: http://www.sarcoinc.com/9-10-11_%208-12.pdf

Also check here: http://www.accumounts.com/ They have a selection of claw and side mounts that are correct for vintage Mausers.

Re: Double claw scope mounts

Looks like I am going to need lot's of luck finding what I need. I took the rifle and scope to several gun dealers around here (Upstate NY) they all loved the gun and scope but would not deal without the rings. The base's are dove tailed into the receiver and would be very costly to have removed and new custom ones made for it. So, the search goes on.

Re: Double claw scope mounts

Both Recknagel and Apel in Germany manufactures new clawmount and clawmount parts. The problem is that the old mounts are sizewise different from the new ones so you will likely have no use of them.
Make new or get it from Ebay.....

What parts do you need? upper or lower parts?
