Double feed and did I clear this correctly?

I was doing a US Arms competition Thursday and in 1 stage my previously rock solid Daniel Defense with a few thousand rounds through it had a misfeed. I rack the charging handle to clear it and another round feeds in partially. I eject the magazine and both rounds are partially in chamber. I put my finger up the mag well and cleared both out. Obviously that stage was fckd but wondering if that was the best way to clear the jam? It was with M193 ammo and gen 3 Magpul magazine. The rifle is all factory DD. This was the first time I've seen this type of jam in years of Marines and shooting. Wondering what caused it and what's the best way to clear it. Thanks

Only thing I think else you could have done was if when you racked the first time and did not see a fouled round eject and you knew you had one in the chamber you would than have dumped the mag and visualky inspected/released the charging handle to try and extract the fouled round.

First reaction was good but not seeing something clear the port you created another problem by double feeding into the fouled round.

I wouldn't think too hard on it.

The fact you actually started some type of immediate action rather than stand there looking at the rifle or repeatedly pulling the trigger indicates you were driving on.

Thank you, yes I've learned over time to take some action even if its not ideal. When I racked it to clear I didn't look / notice anything coming out as I was getting back on target and then no boom again and I'm thinking well this is weird. Then pulled the charging handle and see 2 rounds partially in chamber. Ejected the magazine and stick my finger up in it and they came out. But the mag is now out and I'm holding 2 cleared rounds and my stage is fckd lol

Your second reaction for double feed was correct.

You have to strip the magazine, usually with force because the second round is still caught partially in the feed lips, than you hope gravity helps unfuck the situation or you get your fingers in there to clear the problem.

when clear and empty......Replace mag, slap bolt release, drive on.

I have a class next weekend on advanced carbine.

I will be fucking this up repeatedly.

Whenever I get a Malf, the first thing I do is eject the mag so I'm only dealing with a single round.

IMHO, a Malf means I'm o/o the game until it's cleared and reset to condition one.

Slow is smooth, smooth is quicker.

Wondering about what happened is for after it repeats; otherwise, it's just a blip.
