does it not trouble anyone else about the round robin part of ocw? Changing POA between each shots leads to inconsistent groups doesn't it? wouldn't you do better to shoot all 3 shots before changing POA. You could stay in position while the barrel cooled (say 2-5 minutes between shots depending on ambient). How much would the conditions change over the coarse of the test to have an affect on results?

The round robin is to address the POA and weather factors that may occur by affecting all the targets simalarlly.
Try dry firing between shots and refining your NPA to be consistant and help build that perfect practice.

The round robin aspect is actually beneficial tothe testing.
It allows you to do the test in a fast manner whilst conditions remain similar. 5 minute cool downs are not the most efficient and do not take barrel heat into consideration, in fact it avoids it.

I agree but on his site dan says to allow the barrel to cool down completely between shots.
I have done 2 OCW so far (none have worked out so far). I start at #1 and shoot to 8#, then cool down start at #8 and go to #1, then start at 5# and go up and round to 4#.
I know that I shoot better groups if I can stay behind the rifle and change as little as possible.

The other thing that round robin does is to allow each group to experience the same bore cleanliness. So rather than group one seeing a pristinely clean barrel, and group N see a completely dirty barrel, each group sees a pretty similar barrel in terms of cleanliness.
