Re: DPMS 6.5 creedmoor or .260

You can also reload a 6.5 Creedmoor

Re: DPMS 6.5 creedmoor or .260

Is ammo and brass more readily avaliable for .260 Rem versus 6.5 Creedmoor? I'd look at that as a factor, also the efficiency of the case (how much powder burnt to achieve X velocity) before I jumped on board with the 6.5 Creedmoor..its a newer cartridge, I think going .260 Rem would be a safer bet as far as logistics are concerned.

Re: DPMS 6.5 creedmoor or .260

I have a GAP 308 AR10, when it's rebarreled, it will be 6.5 Creedmoor. Powder Valley has brass and ammo. When I buy brass and bullets, I buy enough at once to wear the gun out.LOL. When it's available......buy it.

To load 260 in an AR 10 or Dpms, you have to load the bullet deeper into the case to fit the mag. This is where the shorter Creedmoor case has the advantage. JMHO.

Re: DPMS 6.5 creedmoor or .260

Good match ammo for the 260 is almost non existent, 6.5CM is out there and priced well, but I have not been able to find it locally, performance wise its a wash, and Creedmore should give a little better barrel life due to the design of the case, 260 is going to be much easier to reload for due to it being based on 308, 243 up 7-08 down, or Rem 260 brass, Rob and I have had more than one discussion over this, and I maybe swinging the Creedmore way for my next build, either cartridge will spank a 308 range.
