I was wondering. Is it possible to take the proprietary G2 Barrel extension out of my current Barrel I'm useing. And put it into a proof research carbon fiber Barrel? I called F4 defense they no longer have any 20-inch carbon fiber barrels only 16. And don't plan on ordering any more from proof research. Is it possible for a gunsmith to take out the barrel extension and put it on a barrel blank carbon research Barrel? I have absolutely zero experience in this area. I hunt in incredibly horrible conditions and I'm trying to get this rifle as light as possible. Just trying to figure out a way to get around all this proprietary bulshit.

Parts are inexpensive right now. You can check out 2a armament and get a blem receiver set for a big discount later this month. Last year they included a free handgaurd. Build a lighterweight rifle with components you want. It would be cheaper than paying a gunsmith for a custom barrel. I built one with a 22inch proof carbon 6.5 creedmore barrel and it shoots sub moa and weighs less than 7 pounds.

F4 defense has a DPMS G2 22 inch carbon fiber 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for sale right now. They also have carbon fiber 16in G2 barrels also. But I'm looking for a 20-inch proof research carbon fiber 308 Barrel not 6.5 Creedmoor. And because I live in a shity state ( Behind Enemy Lines) I'm trying to avoid buying any more guns. It's such a pain in the ass registering everything.
