Hi,

Guys, I have a quick question. I have the DPMS Gen II .308. I am contracting out of town right now, and don’t have that rifle with me. I had intended in the evenings doing some pretty detailed ballistic charts. I brought all data for rounds, environment, muzzle velocities etc. But being a dumb ass, forgot to measure the Bore Line Scope height! I have the exact dimensions for the mount and scope, (Geissele Super Precision and SIG Tango 6) but need the top of rail to bore centerline. If anyone knows the dimension or has the rifle to measure I sure would appreciate it.

The .308 compared to .223 is already .085 just in bore difference and with the mfg. specs between AR-10 and AR-15 could be quite a bit different. You made me think I might look into standard AR-10 mil spec. upper dimensions. Thanks for the response!

Hey,
Calipers is great- that is all that I normally do too. I don't think a few thousandths make much difference. Thanks a lot- that gives me a total center bore to center scope of 2.87" which sounds perfect. Now I have something productive to do this weekend.

I thought the whole point of the Gen II was to make a .308 class rifle in an AR15 size package with handguard compatibility.

To me that sounds like an identical rail over bore height.

If I'm right about rail compatibility, I should be right about rail height.

So Before this mis-information gets anywhere. There is no suck thing as a MIL-SPEC AR-10 upper. Unless its a carbon copy of a knights rifle. Its not milspec.

There are Mil-Spec AR10 uppers but Knights didn't make them.

Regardless, the info needed is shown in #8 of the picture above straight from the horse's mouth.

Just use standard AR15 flat top dimensions.

Like who? im sorry, the AR-10 does not have a Technical data packet and everyone who make follows that packet. Im not sure you know what MIL-SPEC really means.

Like when Armalite had them made for various militaries. Back when Armalite was still a part of Fairchild (I think that was the parent company).
