I picked up a stripped LR308 lower receiver in the early stages of the craziness. I have "slowly" been gathering up everything to build the complete rifle, but I am second guessing myself on using the DPMS parts. I really want a Mega Arms Matched set, but they are still about impossible to find.

Do I really need to be concerned with this, or do I need to just put this rifle together?
Let me know your thoughts and experience
Thanks

My goal is a short, light 308.
Here is a list of what I am using.
Magpul UBR
DPMS Chrome BCG
JP Enhanced bolt
Rainier arms match 16" barrel
Apex rifle length handguard
RRA 2 stage NM trigger

Expect a long wait brother! I got the itch to build a .308 AR back in November 2012, shortly before things went awry in the world.

It's been a waiting game, especially if you are looking to avoid being gouged on prices. When someone posts an important component for less-than-outrageous prices, it gets snatched up fast, so it's a matter of good fortune sometimes. I've managed to gather the component through a mix of trading, obsessively stalking retailer websites, and just good fortune. Oh, and a couple of very generous Hide Members who helped me out greatly.

Good news on the Mega Arms front though, many places are getting Mega Arms items back in stock, and backorders placed last year are starting to get filled.

Put the rifle together and start shooting. My guess is that you will be smiling at the range long before anyone currently waiting on a receiver. And, if you still want that mega matched set you can still buy it and either start a new build or tear down the rifle you built and rebuild it on the new receiver set. As you already have the DPMS receiver set you are not out anything but time by building the rifle...

You just have to be quick. I started by 2nd AR 308 build in late January and within two months I was done. Didn't pay gouged prices but had to monitor websites on an hourly basis. As far as Lightweight goes, a AR 308 gets heavy quick. Here's my 8lb Mega MKM build.

Mega MKM Extended Rifle Length Upper, Mega MATEN Ambi Lower, JP Special Polish LMOS BCG, JP Captured Buffer Spring, AR Performance 16" LW 308 Barrel, Syrac Adjustable Gas Block, Geissele SD-E Trigger, KNS Anti-rotation Pins, BAD-ASS Short Throw Levers, POF Buffer Tube, Magpul CTR Stock, Magpul MOE Grip, Precision Reflex QC Brake, GG&G BUIS, and Raptor 308 Ambi Charging Handle.

Got the Upper from JSE Surplus and the Lower from Rainier Arms within two weeks of each other. Both sites had sold all of their inventory within 10-minutes.

The hardest thing to get was the BCG. Waited almost two months for the JP LMOS from Brownells, then one day I decided to put a backorder in with JP and got it in less than 4-days from JP; cancelled the Brownells order.

Friend of mine started at the same time and he only has an upper and a LPK. He's still waiting for a lower and BCG. And of course he's building a DPMS upper and lower.

What websites were you looking at to find your upper and lower?

Keep an eye on Rainier and Joebob's, as well as the PX section here.

You, my good man, are a lucky bastard! I didn't get gouged, but I did end up missing a deal or three, hopping on to websites just in time for them to be sold out. It looks like I will finally finish my build this weekend when the last few pieces like castle nuts and end plates arrive from Brownells.

Of course, along the way I ended up with an extra MKM upper that I don't need. #FML
