Have a new DPMS SASS GII in 7.62 Is it ok to use .308 ammo or will it damage the gun?

I would imagine that there is a break down in communication if that is your recollection of the conversation with DMPS. 7.62x51=308 win. I have owned multiple G2’s and have fired both 7.62 and 308 through them with no issue.

Do you happen to reload and have a hornady headspace gauge you can clamp on your calipers? If so, measure the headspace of some factory 308 ammo and the same ejected factory 308 ammo and see how much the headspace grows (nice if you can decap the primer for an accurate reading)... Take your calipers with the gauge on the calipers to the store and measure some nato 7.62x51 ammo and see how it compares to your ejected factory 308 brass.... this way you know for sure and you’re not guessing..... if you reload and have the gauge that is... regardless if it’s 308 or 7.62 brass and it’s fireformed brass it’s all a moot point for reloaders. I have a DPMS GII SASS and I've run both 308 and 7.62x51 without issue. I also have a GII Recon...same thing.
