I picked up a new SASS this weekend and was wondering if there are any mods that can be one o increase accuracy of the rifle. I am still going through the break in with some cheap ammo, but once that is done I'll work up some hand loads.

Re: DPMS SASS

I put a Magpul PRS stock on mine and find it fits me better since you can adjust the LOP and the raise the cheek piece. O f course a good quality scope will also help.

Re: DPMS SASS

In my opinion, the trigger is the first thing that should be swapped out (IF it still has the stock trigger) because it can greatly improve the accuracy of the platform. Get yourself a Geissele SSA-E and don't look back!

I also have a Magpul PRS on my setup and I really like it but you'll find plenty of people who don't care for them.

If your SASS has the stock grip on it, you might want to consider swapping it out for an ERGO, Magpul, Hogue, or another popular grip.

Best of luck with the new rifle.

Re: DPMS SASS

I second the new trigger recommendation.
I just put one of the Geissele National Match trigger on mine and absolutely love it. VERY adjustable, but I left the 1st stage alone for fear that I might booger it up somehow. The JP trigger on mine was kind of "catchy" for lack of a better term. Granted, it was way better than a normal AR trigger, but when trying to shoot nice tight groups, it could be a pain in the rear. I bought into the Geissele hype and I am sure glad I did.

The only other thing I want to replace on my SASS is the charging handle. Because of how my scope is mounted, it can be a pain in the butt to get to the charging handle. I'm thinking of getting one of those larger BCM handles.

The only other negative I'd like to work out with the gun is to figure out how to make it not chew the brass up so bad. I know semis are hard on brass, but this thing sure puts some marks on them.

Good luck with the gun. I'm very happy with mine and it consistently shoots very well.

Adjustable Gas Block will solve that. DPMS SASS is way overgassed, and the brass takes a beating. I really want to put one on mine, just keep putting it off.

I also suggest a trigger, and ditching the grip

Re: DPMS SASS

I have had a SASS, actually two - SASS and Mini-SASS for over five years now and they came with the Jard trigger and I have had zero issues with it. It is a single stage so it is different than a Geissele but I don't find it an issue at all. And, I have five Geissele triggers on other AR's and I find the Jard not too bad at all. Nothing that would distract from accuracy.

Re: DPMS SASS

The SASS comes with a JP trigger which is fully adjustable. I like mine at the factory setting. Crisp, clean and breaks at 4 lbs.I also put a Houge grip on and a BCM/Vltor charging handle on mine.

Re: DPMS SASS

I put a chip mccormick trigger on mine and it feels like my bolt gun. I went with the flat trigger not the standard shape, puts my finger in the right place without changing my grip. Very crisp. It is one unit and drops in. My DPMS was less than accurate until I got about 250 rounds through it, now it is very accurate.
