I have read here that dry firing your rifle is a great way to practice ,I think they call it snap in.is this safe for the rifle can it damage firing pin,or trigger.

I use a 0-ring on my Savage rim fire between the cocking piece and the receiver.
Nothing to worry about on a CF rifle.

they sell snap caps if you're worried about firing pin damage.
I've dry fired my rifles and pistols thousands of times each with zero failure...many guns over the years. Now if you have a rimfire, you'll not want to dryfire it unless you have snap cap or empty case...some are ok to but others, you'll damage the pin and the barrel.
