I have started dry fire around 20 times before starting to shoot at the range and have noticed that when the trigger is pulled and the firing pin is released the cross hairs abruptly move up and to the left about 1 inch at 100 yards with my scope set on 10 power.
Is this normal?
Anyone else notice this?

Rifle is a 700p in 308 with about 120 total rounds fired.

I would be more interested in what the type and specs of the scope are on that rifle.

Re: Dry firing at the range

Assuming everything is tight, sounds like your trigger control/shooting form needs to be worked on. When dry firing (or "snapping in")you should not notice any shift in your point of aim.

Re: Dry firing at the range

The cross hairs seem to shift up and to the left. The trigger is 40-x Remington factory trigger that the gun left the factory with. The moment is crisp and seems like the cross hairs shift. The scope is a Leupold 3-10 power Mark AR. I had the scope mounted on a AR-15 and never noticed the shift before. Scope base and rings are tight.

Re: Dry firing at the range

Put the rifle in a solid rest and gently pull the trigger being careful not to move anything but the trigger. Did the reticle move? If so, something is wrong with your scope/set-up. If not, the problem is behind the rifle
