DTA caliber?

I am about to pull the trigger on a DTA SRS A1 soon and was thinking about having a barrel set up for the 6mmbr. I cant seem to find where anyone has chambered one in the DTA yet. I know it can be a PITA to get this caliber to cycle threw most repeaters easy. Also with the DTA mags are designed a bit different than most and this may also be a source for headaches. So has anyone traveled this road yet?

Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs is your best bet. I have several custom caliber DTA barrels from him. He is very good to deal with, honest and professional. He is a very knowledgeable gunsmith, get his shop a call and I'm sure he will know the answer.

6mm BR isn't a whole lot different than 6.5x47L, so I would think it wouldn't be a problem at all. SAC is very familiar with doing 3rd party SRS conversion, so as mentioned, Mark would be good to talk to about that.

I've been shooting a .338BR for quite some time and while it feeds just fine the cases are so short that they don't extract/eject well. The ejector loses pressure on the case head when it comes out of the chamber and at that point the extractor drops the case. I'm going to try extending the ejector pin on my bolt to see if that will help....it worked on the rem 700's I've done. Other than that the round feeds from the mag fine so I'm guessing you won't have any problems with that. I also have a 6.5X47 barrel and it feeds and extracts/ejects fine. The case is longer than the BR so it has enough pressure from the ejector to make it to the ejection port where the shorter cases don't.

Frank, I have not thought about that. Its like the X47 in a TRG the same problem. If I were to get a barrel in 6mmbr I would want 100% reliability. I don't have to have the brass thrown 10 feet, just clear the chamber and my strong hand on the DTA.
