I remember seeing a SRS 308 setup with a Surefire Muzzle Break here about 6 months ago.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing but I recall that the thread on the 308 was something like 3/4x24. Which Surefire muzzle break will work with the 308?

Post some pictures please.

I Believe you would have to go with the FA338 muzzle brake, might be nice in the sense you could get 2 brakes, a 338 kit and just use the 1 suppressor for both calibers.

looking at the picture of the surefire 338 muzzle break, I see that it overlaps the barrel. With the SRS 308 standard barrel being so short will the muzzle brake clear the handguard?

Re: DTA SRS 308 with Surefire Muzzle Break?

Depends on how far the threads are inside the brake and the diameter of the brake itself. I looked at a few pictures and can't really tell. With the DTA brake threaded all the way down, there is about 1/4" clearance between the base of the brake and the end of the guard. However, as you can see from the pic on the top, there is a fair amount of clearance around the barrel (inside the guard).

So it may be possible to fully thread/seat the Surefire on such that the end away from the muzzle is inside the guard, but still have clearance from the inside surface of the guard itself. The DTA brake shown in the photos looks is quite a bit wider than the barrel muzzle and would not fit inside the guard easily. The Surefire looks somewhat thinner to me, but I've never had my hands on one, so take that with a grain of salt.

None really if you don't plan on putting a Surefire can on it. If not then it's just another brake.

Here's a pic of the 338 brake adapter. The end of the barrel is just behind the ports on the top of the brake so you can see it overlaps a bit.

Ah, I see. I'd love to plan a can for it. But considering what state I've the misfortune to live in - I'll just buy a bigger set of earplugs.
