Ok guys I have been bit hard by the bug for getting a Covert. I have two SRS's and I cannot afford a covert without letting one SRS go. My question is if u have one of the first 10 released, would it be worth more than the other one with a later serial #? Yeah I know just keep both and get a Covert and I will thank you later...I am waiting on that comment...from one of you..LOL.

Re: DTA SRS Value

it might be 50 years from now but not soon enough to worry about it IMO. i would honestly call DTA and see if they can help you out in modifying one of yours to be a covert.

Thats kind of what I am thinking, DTA would probably help you out with modifying one of the one's you have, you could always put it up for sale on here for what you think it's worth and if it sells great, and if it doesn't then theres always the first plan. It might be worth more to a collector.

Re: DTA SRS Value

Yup, that's what I have, the Covert chassis w 16" and 22" .308 barrels. It's been suggested here that foregrip mods are in the works, so you might be able to just swap out barrels and a shorter foregrip on one of your SRSs. It'd be a lot less $$$.

Re: DTA SRS Value

Can you tell me more about the rail swap? Bruce from DTA mentioned that he thought it was a bad idea to mess with the rails in any way. Is this custom or something coming from DTA? Perhaps I misunderstood...

Re: DTA SRS Value

Much like you..I have two SRS rifles. While the covert is a neat little concept I do not see any real usable advantage (in fact compared to the SRS I see a disadvantage). That said I would never begrudge a purchase for any motivating factor whether it be as simple as a desire/personal preference or the tacticool factor. To address your question about value...I purchased my rifles early on and back then there was a different pricing structure. You may not see added value from the low number but you could easily see an excellent sale price due to today's pricing which puts early purchasers in a unique position. Best of luck whichever way you decide to proceed.

Re: DTA SRS Value

Well, its not a done deal yet that DTA will do this swap. I was talking with the production manager and he said it was doable but whether the sales guys would price it out and let me so it, I won't know until next week when I talk to them.

dksk..yeah you are right...I was one of the first 5 to order from the original run of a 100. That entry price after the SHOT initial announcement makes ours worth much more then we paid for them with todays pricing.
