I have gotten into an argument with a friend and don't have what I need to settle it.....

he insists that the leupold M3 BDC dials for 308 168 grain and the 223 77 grain are identical. I have a hard time believing that....can anyone settle the bet???

Re: dumb leupold BDC question: settle a bet

I ran Blackhills 77 gn 223 at 2750fps and Blackhills 308 168 gn at 2650fps through the JBM calculator and they are very similar until 700 yards.
....223 / 308
100- 0... 0
200- 2... 2
300- 5... 5
400- 8... 8
500- 12.. 12
600- 17.. 17
700- 23.. 22
800- 29.. 27
900- 37.. 35
1000- 47.. 45

Your mileage may vary but I think your friend is right.

thanks.......while 500 yrds isn't nothing, it sounds safe to say that leupold does not simply "re-paint" the 308 dial.........I think that calls me the winner....

thanks guys.

ONLY at those two velocities, and ONLY at whatever atmospheric conditions dialed into the BDC.
