I bought a used older nightforce MOA/MOA w/ NPR2 reticle, I've searched around and maybe I am not putting in the right key words.

What power does the scope need to be on to properly use the reticle hash marks for bullet drop? It is a second focal plane, right?

Those scopes range at half power. There's a dot on the magnification ring to indicate where 11.5 power is.

Some of the new ones (eg C432 MOAR) range at full power.

If you are asking how to use your reticle to find the range for a target of known size, then you need to have your scope on max magnification unless you have a scope that goes past 22x. Then use the 22x magnification. Once you have your range, do your math from there. Is that what you were asking?

You are correct - it is a second focal plane scope. If you are at max power each hash mark represents 2 moa on the vertical axis.
I have not heard that older scopes with NPR2 reticles range at the half power mark.

The NXS 3.5-15x50 and 5.5-22x50 range at max magnification. The 5.5-22 will have a mark at 11x as well. Best to check on a target at 100 yards with a target that has an MOA grid if you are not sure.
