Dumb question about Rem. 700 bolts

Can you use the bolt from one rifle in another rifle if they are the same? Say I wanted to take a bolt from an older 700 long action and put it in a newer 700 barreled long action. Or is there a bit more to it?

If the headspace checked OK and was within spec then sure, it'd work. I wouldnt pull the trigger though until headspace was checked with a steel gauge.

Ditto to what Willian said. There is alot of variance in dimentions in 700s.
