NOTE: I integrate these kits for other people occasionally but I'm not running a business and I've never made a dime of profit making them. As well, you're perfectly entitled to make one yourself. I don't manufacture anything really and I make the Ballistic_XLR spreadsheet available online for free download. I'm hoping that this inspires you to consider your solution, not buy something.

Now then:
When I go out into the field I go with the idea that inclement weather occasionally comes free at no extra charge and I should probably deal with it as best I can. For many years I relied on gadgets primarily to provide ballistics data but substantial problems with them caused me to move to printed data sets. Those of you that know about my Ballistic_XLR project know that I set it up specifically to provide printable field expedient data. Printing on regular paper has problems though. Paper (real paper) is about as non-durable as things get. Even a little moisture and it's toast. Laminating doesn't help because it inevitably bubbles and data is ruined. So I moved to Revlar waterproof media (it's not made of paper but looks like it). That was game changer and my waterproof data-sets are more durable than I expected. Still, certain things in my shooting kit are electronic and that's not going to change and they still need protection and organization. I also wanted it to look super cool so when I open it up at a competition my opponent onlookers will look and think, "wow, that's neat, guy is obviously serious" instead of "jeebus, look at that guy, he's already lost". It's better for me strategically if the other competitors see me as a threat to their win. Puts them on the defense out of the gate.

So I give you the new BADEDS kit (Ballistic_XLR Advanced Durable Enclosed Data Store). It's pretty simple. I keep my iPod touch with KAC BulletFlight and a few hunting oriented apps on it, my Kestrel, my infrared thermometer, and my ring-bound waterproof data sets (a full Ballistic_XLR data set with calc form and extended data and functions tables).

The case is relatively inexpensive. Came with pick-n-pluck foam and perfectly holds my kit. There's a grease pencil playing strut in some of the photos below. Revlar is about a buck a page and is actually made of plastic. It works with most standard laser printers but I caution that you will want to make sure you can crank up the fuser temperature on your printer to make sure you get good toner adhesion.

Radio, compass and ammo don't go in that box. They're just for pretty pictures.
