as we are in the uk duracoat is expensive for us to import,
so we decided to search for a uk product ,
we went to the defence industry and looked at at tec paint used in areo-space applications, everthing from missles/helecopters and those planes that dont look like planes !
and with the manufacturer we started to test a new blend/spec designed for us, now we have only just started but had to share these results because we think that it shows a significant improvement
for todays test we were, to blast and coat two suppressors, then blast again to test physical errosion.
so both cleaned and prepped one painted with black duracoat the other with new tac coating , used the oven to flash off left a couple of hours.

[both cleaned]

[new tec coat]

both use a similar process,
the results, duracoat 11mins to blast clean with 120 grit
tec coat just under 60min to clean
not a very accurate test but good enough at this point
but worth persuing!

and any colour /texture / matt,gloss etc

does not show up to good , but this is a fine sand type texture

Re: Duracoat test,

The "tec" coat looks very similar to Moly Resin, now saying that I have used both MR and Duracoat. Duracoat I thought stated a two week total cure time, where as the MR is ready to go after only an hour at 300f. I wonder how the DC would fair if it was cured properly. Just an observance not a flame.

Re: Duracoat test,

to be honest we have not seen much difference after being ovened to being left a week or two,
It has made no difference in the timed sandblasting,
We are duracoat certified aswell

We will just have to wait and see how well it does on the other tests planned,

I do know that a similar product from the firm carries a 15 year guarentee for corrosion resistance on steel/ali/plastic/fiberglass and some other plastics when used correctly
