Axeman,
I use the Polane stuff and it works great. Do not get the dead flat black, as it does not have the same abrasion resistence as the Polane T or T plus. The only catch is that they only sell it in larger quantities. About $150 for all the stuff you will need. Worth it if you are doing a bunch of guns though.

Where are you located?

Re: duracoating a rifle

Duracoating is very easy. I've done pistols and rifles, including a custom McMillan .50 (which took a long time and used up a ton of paint). The process is very user-friendly.

If you don't have access to a blasting cabinet, use a green scotchbrite pad to scuff up the surface you want to paint. I've used both methods and they both work great. Follow Lauer's instructions and you won't have a problem!! Good luck and post some pics when you are done!

Re: duracoating a rifle

Duracoat is easy enough to do and forgiving.

I did my Howa's barreled action in Duracoat, and also the base coat of the stock with Duracoat and then put Krylon on top.
