Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs - they are very good construction, little or no hiss, and thin on the side for your rifle stock - best bang for the money.
+1 for Howard Leight Impact Sport. The electronic is very good in them for communication and blocking out gunfire. The batteries last a long time in them as well. I use them everyday for 6-8hrs a day and only change the batteries every 3-4months. They are very slim and do not restrict your stockweld and also quite comfortable. Best for the money in my opinion.
I run the Peltor ComTac II's and have for several years. They're expensive but I also run comms thru them and they do exactly what I need them to do. Battery life is good and uses 2 AA batteries.
I have been using the Sordin Supreme ProX with the gel cups for several months now. They perform very well and are really comfortable when wearing for extended periods of time.
About a week ago I picked up the Howard Leight Impact Sports and I am very happy with them. Very comfortable, good electronics and only around 50ish if you look around.
Another vote for the Howard leights here. While alone on the shooting line I could hear the old dudes every now and then talking in the club house 40m away with the sound turned all the way up and wearing surefire EP3's. There is a slight hiss in the cups at this level but with ear plugs in you can't hear it.
have x2 Peltor -both had problems, have gone to Howard leights (about same $) and like them much better (phone jack & auto off, on/off is harder to bump on)
If cost is an issue, Howard Lights. They perform incredably well for the dollar.
If you want the best, Sordin. They are all day comfortable, work well, sound great, tough as hell and the gel cups seal WAY better around glasses than anything else out there.
Simply for noise reduction, foam ear plugs, 33 dbb. All of the muff styles I have used are in my way in the prone. I have Peltor Com Tac IIs that I don't use anymore.
I don't need to be able to hear while wearing them when no shooting is going on. When the instructor is talking, I take the foam plugs out. Howard Leight disposable foam plugs.
+1 for Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs.
I have not gone the electronic route yet...but have been thinking about it for some time and looking at all available option. I shoot in all different kinds of matches and I must admit that some low profile electronic muffs would be a welcome addition to my shooting gear. Based upon my research, including feedback from many users, the Howard Leights are the most bang for your dollar and do the same job (or better) than others that cost many times more. Just my .02cents worth (some day I'll actually buy a pair)...
+1 for Howard Leight Impact Sport low profile. For the money, they are the shit. Changing the battery, WAY EASIER........ Caught mine on sale at Cabelas for like $52.00
If you shoot indoors and have an opportunity, borrow the Impacts before you buy. They worked OK for me outdoors and the profile is good but a guy three lanes over pulled out a shotgun and I had to check to see if they were still on. That 22NRR wasn't cutting it. Pro Ears and Sordins at my house or plugs.
I had an experience like Dirty Rod and sold my Impacts. Guy a few lanes over pulled out a 50 BMG and it felt like I had no protection. I went back to my muffs with 30 db protection. They're not as slim but I figure why F around.

I just recently purchases a pair of MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X's from Triad Tactical, and I love these things! With the gel ear cups and electronic mics, you don't even notice you are wearing them! I also like the fact that I can plug my ipod in and listen to music if I'm shooting alone.
Don't think I'll use anything else from here on out.
