Ed Brown M40 308 Rifle. Why don't you see more of these? He makes such a fine pistol and his manufacturing facility is state of the art.

Is there something wrong with the rifle? Overpriced maybe. I'm just asking because I compete on a small level with his pistols and would never shoot anything else. They really are the best.
Whats the deal with his rifles?

Re: Ed Brown Rifle

I have a Marine in .308 and love it. Way more accurate than me but Ed's attention to detail is evident, as it is in his pistols.

Re: your question, my guess is, the price. On the surface the price might not compete with the other semi-custom builders, but considering his controlled-feed 704 action is first-rate, the Shilens are hand-lapped in house, lots of CNC parts, and Ed was apparently the only one to build the rifles, I bought one.

Now that they don't make rifles anymore (but Ed will continue to service them) in favor of more customized 1911s, it will be interesting to track their value over time. Don't see too many new Marine Snipers around anymore for sale, particularly with the Jewell trigger.

I like their products and if I wanted something done to a gun of theirs, the turnaround is very fast.

Let us know if you get one.
cheers.

Re: Ed Brown Rifle

There was a notice a few months ago that Ed Brown would no longer be making rifles. They are devoting their manufacturing facility 100% to pistols. I received the 2011 on Christmas Eve and there are only .45s in it.

Re: Ed Brown Rifle

I just googled around looking for the price. I was expecting them to be in the ridiculous price range that the Chandler Rifles are but was pleasantly surprised. $3000 give or take doesn't seem crazy at all.
