I really want to get a 6.5 SAUM possibly a 7 SAUM build underway. I have a long action badger 2013 300 win mag that I really like. There are some others on my list that I can find in short action mag. Defiance and Bighorn, Tempest is also on my radar. And I may go that route. The 2013 is near top of my list since its the only custom action I own and is built like a tank and cant find anything I don't like about it. But does anyone know a stocking dealer for badger other than euro optic? I'm happy to work with them and they are only one I can find, but they don't show short action mag on their site.

The smith I want to work with is 2 months out to get their short action mag bolt face in so trying to expedite the process a little.

So maybe I should have titled this topic differently! Maybe what happened to badger action popularity?
I have m2013 in mind as a top tier action. Am I mistaken?

I thought I used to to see a lot more conversation about BO actions and more build pictures using them. What happened? Bighorn and defiance based action seem to be all the rage. Is it nature of the business to move to newest thing or did guys have enough things to not like about them they went away from using them?

Should I go a different route? Found the M2013, 591, tl3 and defiance all on hand different places so I can take my pick it seems. Now that being the case I'm second guessing my first option. I've read for hours on what action to buy threads new and old and just see trends across time if nothing else.

Going 6.5 saum short action build for sure now.

My 2013 came directly from Badger. I talked with Marty and he took quite a while talking with me. I wanted a 60* bolt lift with a tight slick action. One man that builds a lot of longrage rifles recommended BO to me over other available actions. They don't seem to be very popular but I like it's features and it field strips without tools. I also like that it's not a Remington clone which probably has something to do with its lack of popularity. Early on there were problems with firing pin issues because the smiths didn't locktite the jam screw. I don't know if this step was in the instructions on the earlier models but it's in the newer instructions.

Depending on the use of your gun an integral rail could limit your range.
