Rifle Scopes EGW Base aluminum

Re: EGW Base aluminum

I have one on my 300WM. I'd agree it's pretty soft and definitely got marked up from mounting rings, but it's held up out to 1100 yds so far. No re-zero issues or poi shifts. Good budget base. They make a stronger one now I believe.

Re: EGW Base aluminum

If you locktite the base on and mount the scope once, it works fine. If you are constantly mounting and dismounting scopes, the rail seems a bit soft (6061 Al) and it takes a beating. Seekins uses (7075 Al) which is significantly harder and stronger and tolerates the mounting and dismounting much better.

Re: EGW Base aluminum

That makes sense as i was trying out different scopes on the rifle with the EGW base. They fixed the problem but I wouldn't buy another one, I don't shoot that rifle very often is why I haven't changed it but as soon as I get around to it I'll get a Seekins or badger.

Ditto... but I didn't bother to call. I have had great luck with Farrell bases
