I have been looking for a scope to put on a 7mm-08 build, and I ran across a deal on a Bushnell Elite 4200 FFP 6-24x50. How do these compare with a Sightron SIII or other similarly priced optics? I know the Sightron offers more travel, but how much vertical movement can you get out of the 4200? I know these are being phased out of the Bushnell line, so what would be a fair price on a used scope in excellent condition?

I bought one new from a shop on Ebay for under $700 shipped. Has illuminated reticle as well. Its been working very well on my ALS50 so far.

I have one that I put on my wife's long range rig. I picked it up when they were on sale at Midway USA.

It is a solid optic. I don't like the fact that the tic marks don't always line up with your zero, but this is a shortcoming with splined turrets. As long as you know your rifle and where the index mark should end up, you are fine.

I have not gotten the chance to run a true tracking test with it yet. I had to throw it together for a local match last week, so we just ran it and hoped for the best. It returned to zero well. Most of the match was "no-dial", so it wasn't much of an issue.

The eye box is decent at 24x. Glass is relatively clear. The reticle is a bit thick for precise stuff like dot drills in heavy mirage. For everything else it works well. I have not tested the illumination yet. I have not even put the battery in.

I don't have a Sightron to compare it to, but I feel it's a good buy in that price range.

My 3-12x44 and my grand slam tactical line up perfect. But I have seen some that don't. I guess its just the luck of the draw.

I have one. has worked great on multiple trips out to 1,000 and back. Glass is good but does lose some clarity at 24x but down in the high teens where most people will run them they are great.

I traded down from a NF 5.5-22x50

Mines the FFP mil/mil

Ive got one and it works really good. Like previously said it gets a tad fuzzy on 24x but thats about the only nock. If your just getting into the mil/mil first focal thing than it is an awesome scope.
