I have a Springfield EMP in 9mm. It is a very nice little carry weapon. The only problem is the bottom corner of the mainspring housing is checkered and after a few rounds, rides very uncomfortably in my hand. Too the point that it is very annoying. I would hate to shoot more than a few mags through it at a time. Does anyone know if any company makes a new mainspring housing that is smooth or fits better? One plus would be to get rid of the ILS. Maybe I should just sell it and get a colt defender. Any help is appreciated. I have tried a google search and have checked around on a few other forums but have not really turned up anything helpful.

Re: EMP help

Why not have a smith round the corner? I haven't tried on my wife's EMP but a standard officers MSH should fit it also but you might have the same issue. The ILS has never been an issue for me but if you change it, don't forget the internals. Cap sizes are not universal.

Simple solutions are usually the best.

Thought about that but I did not want to mess with the finish.

Should just be the corner of the frame and after just looking at my wifes, there is about 1/4" where the housing sticks out past the frame so you, or your smith, can probably just try rounding off the MSH corner without touching the frame so you would just need to reblue housing. Easier than selling and buying another gun especially if you like the EMP IMO.

I like the little EMP but when you pay that much for one, I was a little up tight about doing so. Did not really want to go find something else and I found a pretty good deal on this one. Went to the bench and grabbed a file and went to work. Just took off the edges that were giving me the problems. Feels better. Thanks for the advice and help. This can be closed. Problem solved.
