I came across Dana English of www.englishrifles.com from a thread on the Hide. Another member asked who did cerakote in Fl, well Robert Gradous recommended Dana English. I know a few things; I listen when Jacob Bynum tells me something, and I listen when Frank tells me something. Well along those lines I listen when Mr. Gradous speaks on a subject.

I called Dana and told him my issue. My son's 700 had developed a light coat of surface rust. I was treating it with oil and wiping it down, I had it under control but wanted it fixed. Dana English said cerakote would do the trick. My GAP built gun has cerakote on it and lives and shoots in the same conditions as my sons gun with no signs of any rust. So, cerakote the gun.

English Rifles is conveniently located on my way home from our closest 1,000 yard range. My son and I dropped the rifle off on 8/14/2011. We spent about an hour talking rifles with Dana. His shop is spectacular and amazingly clean and organized. Dana called me on the 26th and said the rifle was ready to go. Work kept me from driving up until today. I arrived at 11:30. We talked guns and reloading until 2:00. Dana volunteered to show me how to properly measure the different aspects to properly reload my GAP rifle and my sons 700.
No sales pitch, just a very nice experienced gentleman showing an eager to learn shooter way to make the best loads I can.

Dana had several of his builds on hand, I have to say I really like the lightweight mountain rifle with the Defiance action. Not a tactical gun, but a purpose built gun that i am sure will put a lot of meat on the table.

I would highly recommend Dana English for any of your gunsmith needs.

Re: English Rifles

Dana English is one of the best "dirty little secrets" in the rifle building community. You will have to go a long way to find a finer person. Mr. English is the complete package. He knows his way around the machine shop & is very good at "driving" the rifles he builds.
Deal with confidence.

Re: English Rifles

Let's make that happen Jack! Your son can teach me how to hit movers, if he hasn't moved on to shooting aspirin tablets on the fly.

I owe you big time for the awesome recommendations you've made.
