Hi Folks,

Here's a video I just finished. Customer sent in a counterfeit 550 instead of the real one he got from us at OpticsPlanet.com. If you're getting one cheap, it probably is!

Steve, are you saying a customer attempted to get a refund on a product Optics Planet sold him by returning a counterfeit unit instead of the genuine article he got from Optics Planet?

Yes, correct. He tried to get a refund on a counterfeit. Our unit came directly from EOTech. The person received it and then swapped his real unit with a cheap ripoff import. The poor big box stores get taken regularly because the return folks there are generally not product-savvy.

What a tool. What recourse do you have for a situation like that? Can you bring criminal charges?

You can definitely bring criminal charges. Trouble is if this guy isn't local you'll have to get the local authorities to charge and then extradite or get the feds involved for federal wire fraud or mail fraud, which they might not be interested in given the relatively small amount of money involved.
