Re: Epoxy grip finish

Hi DHanz,

This is actually what I am looking for. I'm not cerain this is Marine Tex. Is looks like a looser epoxy.

If there were other color option's than black that would be a plus.

Re: Epoxy grip finish

The texture gained is really dependent on the technique. Using a ziploc bag wrapped around a fing can generally gain a more aggressive texture.

You might consider making some samples first. The R&D Precision link texture is about the max I would really want personally, but YMMV.

Devcon works well too.

Re: Epoxy grip finish

Not sure what type of epoxy, but the texture seems to be what you are looking for.
Devon maybe. As for texture, one of those scouring pads you scrub pots with pressed into the epoxy and dabbed around a bit produces a pretty good grip surface.
You just have to experiment a bit to get the outcome you are looking for.

Re: Epoxy grip finish

I have achieved the same results as in your photo following the above link using steel bed and acra glass gel and the side of a popsicle stick. The one in the photo just has not been sanded or filed to the final desired texture. I have done at least six stocks and it is a fool proof method.

As a side note I have been using this technique on fire axe handles(it is beyond embarassing when you swing with your axe to cut a hole on a two story roof and your axe slips out of your wet hands!!)
