Mr. Roscoe

I believe that machine will serve you well. I used one for almost 20 years as my primary lathe (ENCO's changed the model# and some minor details in that time, but it's the same machine).

The only thing that went wrong was a broken gib strip in the cross slide and I was in a hurry so I brazed it back together. It still worked when I left about 12 years after.

If you do your part, it'll get the job done.

Sure, no real secrets here. Just happen to have a job loaded in the machine. The spider started off as 5/8" wall high pressure flow line. It's amazing what a blow torch, lathe and mill with a dividing head can do to a piece of metal. The ID of the sppider is just a snug slip fit to the spidle OD with 8 set screws locking it on. Brass tipped socket head screws, nuts and set screws from McMaster Carr, the spider works great.
