Anyone using ESEE fixed blades? are they GTG looking at a ESEE 5P-B. at Blade HQ $159. I dont have much to compare it to I have a Benchmade Nimravus. How do ESEE compare to Benchmade,SOG or other that cost a bit less. Thanks

Re: ESEE Knives

I have an ESEE 5... It seems like people in the know about knives (I am not one of those people) typically say that the 5 is too big & heavy to really be useful & I know a lot of people are real happy with the 4 as a do-all fixed blade. One guy even said the 5 would be perfect if you needed to chop your way out of a 55 gallon drum... I've only been in that situation twice & wouldn't you know neither time did I have my 5 with me so fuck, haha! I don't know about all that, but I do know that the 5 is a hell of a knife for the money & chops the shit out of sticks & whatnot! I also have a 3 but wish it were the Izula...

Re: ESEE Knives

I have a 5 and the thing is indestructible. I love the micarta handle...I have the serrated version and for camping/hiking/etc, it'll serve you well. The thing can take a hammer blow from the top side of the blade to really make a chop. I want to say the blade, at its thickest, is 1/4". One other thing too, for the money, I just don't see how it can be beat..

Re: ESEE Knives

I have the 4 and Izula II. Both great blades in quality and design. I was considering the 5 myself but after some research I found the 4 to be more of what I wanted. Looking at the 6 as my next Esee.

If you have yet to order, I wanna give a big GTG to knifecenter.com. Great prices, fast shipping, and responsive CS.

Re: ESEE Knives

I have the ESEE-6, and compared to other knives of its size it is all there and ready to take on whatever you throw at it. I love mine, and am actually looking at getting an ESEE-4 for wild food prep. /field dress.

Re: ESEE Knives

I love my Esee-3 I used it to skin and quarter my elk earlier this month. It keep it's edge and only need a little clean up on a ceramic rod to bring it back to full sharpness. My only dislike is its not made of s30v steel but that would double the price so it's a fair compromise. The blade on the 3" is also thin which makes the knife very useful for cooking chores.
