I've been in the market for a while now researching and about many of the current technologies manufacturers are offering on current variable power riflescopes. After narrowing down most of the features I found to be important: (x-turret feature, x-eye box and and relief, x-amount of elevavation travel, proper tracking, matching reticle turret increments etc... I was left torn between the debate between having to choose first focal plane and second. I am fairly versed now of the differences between the two. What intrigued me is the idea of dual plane optics. I'm aware that USO has entered this territory using a red dot of the sfp as I understand it. I would like to know if any of you have any experience with an optic of this nature or have any ideas for a good concept. I had a couple ideas (such as a thin crosshair + dot sfp and moa hash grid on ffp)and thought this could spark an interesting discussion. I apologize for the length of the post, i'm a new member and in part just wanted to introduce myself.

Wow,
First post and i already dove into a covered topic.... Didnt realize it from the title, i actually thought i stubled upon something fairly unique...haha. Thanks for pointing in the right direction sir.

I just spent a bit of time perusing that thread and its very interesting. Anyone else that stumbles on this thread i reccomend you take a look through Doc's link as its a fascinating idea and has been covered fairly thouroughly. Personally i would like to see more manufacturers with this offering, such as SWFA, Vortex etc.. I believe it would be most applicable to cqb optics and medium power (5-20) offering the controller not only a more visible reticle and lower power magnifications but the versatility to cover less of a target at high mag setting. There are a plethora of possible configurations, i would just like to see them more readily available. I assume that controlling windage and elevation to near exact toleracnces between two focal points simultaneously probably costs manufacturers a pretty penny so i guess the down side is that for any given price point you would get a much higher quality scope in single plane reticle...

Thanks for the info Scott,
The Eliminator looks incredible, a bit rich for my blood though. I guess the DFP manufacturing is quite labor intensive and in turn reflects a selling price exponentially more than I anticipated. I really like the idea of a 1-10 variable power magnification though. I'm sure that range contributes to the cost significantly as well. The two most interesting features ..... go figure
