Finally the other day I got to go to the range with two of my favorites: my AIAW in 260 that I just put a 5.5-22 NXS on and my good old Howa 308 Varmint with my Leupold Mark 4 10x.
As I haven't had time to hit the reloading bench since being home I ordered a few boxes of COR-BON 142 SMK's for the 260 and picked up some FGMM 175 SMK's for the 308. As expected the AW was sub 1/2 MOA even at 300m. The COR-BON shot awesome putting two five-shot clovers(.38" & .41") at 300m. What amazed me though was that my Howa at 300m out-shot my AW with one group at .33"(five shots).
My AW was more consistent however(averaging .6"-.8") but I couldn't believe that group from the 308. The 308 averaged .7"-1.1" at 300m. The largest group for both rifles was right at one inch at 300m. I thought this was decent for having a gusting 10-15 mph crosswind and shooting from prone off the bipod. Just thought I would share and for everyone who owns an Howa 1500, I just reminded myself how awesome these are.
P.S. if my camera didn't get trashed on deployment I would have had pictures on here.
