Eye Protection

I am looking for a good pair of sunglasses and I an also thinking I would like them to be shooting glasses, I used to wear wiley X's and I am thinking of getting a pair of these,

is there a difference between the XL 1 and the XL 1 advanced I really like the rust lenses and crimson red lenses.

I don't know about the difference between those two types, but I do know a thing or two about using Wiley-X for shooting glasses.

Wiley's are great glasses, but depending on the frame type/fit and your shooting style the frame may be in the way of your aiming view. The Oakley Half-Jackets and my Wiley-X are like this for me, but Oakley M-Frames work great.

Another good option is the ESS glasses, and they're very affordable. PM Nomad about them as he may have a discount for you. They work perfect for me as shooting glasses.

My ultimate recommendation is to hit up a Sunglass Hut or similar shop that stocks them to try them out first before ordering.

Tango 6, Another Oakley frame I like is the Flak Jacket XLJ. http://www.oakley.com/products/4657/24927. I have found these to be great range glasses. Very easy to change out. At all times, I carry 3 different lenses in my case: Gold Iridium Polarized, Persimmon, and Clear. These three lenses allow for any range conditions and keep me from having to keep up with multi glasses.

I recently made the transition to ESS from Wiley X eye pro. I've been issued a couple sets of Oakleys as well but they just didn't fit my face like the Wiley X's did.

The ESS's are adjustable and offer excellent field of view. Definitely PM Nomad if you go with the ESS's.

I like my Wileys for everyday wearing. I like my Oakley M's for shooting. They totally cover and allow no sunlight to sneak in. I dont like them for everyday use cause they make me look like the law.

Just got my ESS Crossbow pair in the mail today... awesome eyewear.

Feels very solid.

Im sure if my rifle explodes in my face this may just be the ticket I want to be wearing.

+1 on ESS and i think someone on here has a perm discount for them. They are also bringing out a new light/dark self adjusting lens but you'd need to ask others when that is likely. Very happy with mine.
