F T/R Competition F-TR Mid Range Matches

You can typically find a variety of different formats for F-TR that pretty much depend on the range and/or the current match director. For example, the matches at Santa Margarita Gun Club/Camp Pendleton as mentioned above by rdsii64 have evolved over the last couple years to be predominantly either a single 3x20 @ 600 yd (Sun), or two 3x20 @ 1000 (Sat/Sun). Occasionally, a 300, 500, 600 match will be thrown in. At South Bay Rod and Gun Club here in SD, there is a monthly "Reduced" Palma match. This match is 3x15 @ 300 yd, shot on the MR63 F-Class target. This target has a 1.42" X-ring and 2.85" 10-ring, and anyone that thinks it's too easy should come out and try it. If you drop more than 1 or two points, sometimes any at all, you definitely won't be winning. This is a really fun match to shoot, and a very nice change-up in format from typical 600 or 1000 yd matches. We have both F-TR and F-Open shooters for all three of these matches here. So a lot really depends on the Match Director and the specific club sponsoring the event. It wouldn't be surprising if you could find more than one type of event at different clubs in your area that are within driving distance. Easiest thing to do is call or e-mail the Match Director and see what they have to offer.
